I have a question:

Since I don't have time or energy to put into a thoughtful post, I'll ask y'all:

Ron Paul.
Opinions?

:D

Well, it's kinda the opposite of my opinion on George W, actually. With Bush, I like him for the most part on foreign policy. On the other hand, he has a tendency to ignore important domestic issues. Ron Paul, on the other hand, has some great ideas when it comes to domestic policy - who wouldn't want to see a litany of useless government departments eliminated? - but wants the US to ignore the rest of the world. He's too close for comfort to being an isolationist. And that scares me. I still think the smartest thing I ever wrote was: "isolationism is tantamount to a man in a room full of tigers backing into a dark corner, tying his own arms behind his back, closing his eyes, and hoping they won't notice him."

JB, I really don't see Ron Paul as an isolationist. He doesn't want to ignore the rest of the world, he wants to talk and trade with other countries. He just doesn't think that we should be putting the interests of other countries ahead of our own. I would defiitely classify him more as a non-interventionist.

"Two kids are fighting on the school playground. The isolationist doesn't do anything, he has no friends. The non-interventionist lets them work it out themselves. The interventionist beats them both up and takes their lunch money."
